Numeric input in forms [message #129414]

Hi,

I hope every one will be fine.
I have an issue in oracle form 6i. I want to create an input box that accepts only number. As the user press any key other than allowed for numbers it should not accept.
Any solution?

Create a text box and change the data type as number, it will allow u only numbers and u cannot come out from that box with characters other than numbers. if u give other characters it will though an error message.

Thank you for you response.
Well, you are right. But it will prompt when any validation occurs.
It will not stop user from typing non numeric value i.e
in field salary user can type abc2000 but as he press enter then error message will come.
I need to stop even typing wrong values

Any solution.

Short answer - No.

Long answer - You can use Java or VB extensions.

Oracle Forms is a real world main stream application environment. It works on numerous operating systems and is based on middle aged technology. The overhead of character by character validation is contrary to that philosophy.
